Quilt progress

It took me two days to cut out all the triangles.

Late last night I started making the squares.

I figured out it takes about an hour to make one set of squares, one of each color. At that rate it will take 28+ hours just to make the squares. That doesn't include putting the strips together, etc. The plan is to push hard through this first part. It's going to be so fun to see it all come together.

You should know that she has a long-arm quilting machine, and could quilt that for you when you're done. I've seen her work, and it's really good (but then again, I am slightly biased ;). Let me know, and I'll find out how much it costs.

I'm actually looking forward to quilting it by hand by myself. I think it might be my "thing." I've tried sewing clothes, card making, cross-stitch, Hardanger, and lots of other crafts. I've always loved stitching with the needle and thread in my fingers, like cross-stitch. And I love fabric. I'm still working on the sewing thing, but I think because quilting is a combination of fabric and hand sewing, I might really enjoy it.

Whenever I try something new I have high hopes about it being really fun and something I will love to do. I still really enjoy cross-stitch and Hardanger, but I know there is something else out there that will be so joyful to work on that I'll dream about it. If quilting isn't it, I'll keep on searching. But I'm hoping it is. :)
